Describing a picture.-E1F

Carefully read the instructions below (Describing a photo) and prepare to describe one of the pictures from the link below (the Simpson's drawing). 

Say your description aloud a couple of times or more and, when you feel confident, record yourself, name the file and upload it here. Deadline: Friday, 21st February.

Describe a picture in 2 minutes. Click on the pic below and study the language you need to describe a picture.


Read carefully the instructions and assessment citeria below. Your speech must be uploaded before Monday 17th  February.

1.-PREPARE

*Tprepare for the task, click on the pic above and study the language you need to use in your description. You can also read sample descriptions of some pictures.

*Once you have the info and know how to say it, organise your speech: start with the general information and then move into more detailed information, following a spatial order. Finally, give your personal opinion.

2.-REHEARSE

*Practise speaking with a watch: you need your speech to be within the time limits.

*Practise and practise until you feel confident.


3.-RECORD

*Record yourself and name the file after yourself.


4.-UPLOAD

*Upload your file before the deadline. Click here to upload it.

CHECKLIST

*Pronunciation and intonation: Is it easily understood? Does it sound as oral / written language?
*Time limit: Is it within the time limit? Too long / short? (+/- 10%)
*Content: Is the information relevant / logical?
*Structure: Is there an introduction, a body and a conclusion? 
*Grammar: Is it grammatically acceptable? Are there only minor grammatical mistakes? Are there important grammatical errors which hinder understanding?
*Vocabulary: Is it appropriate? Is it varied? Are there synonyms / repetition? Are concepts well connected?

Speak for 5-6 minutes on the topic 'Environment: Can you make a difference?'  Read carefully the instructions and assessment citeria below. Your speech must be uploaded before Monday 3rd February.

Before you plan your speech, read and listen to different texts and learn the language you need to express your own ideas.You are given two texts on the topic below -just click on the pics.

PREPARE

*Prepare your speech thoroughly: look for information and the language you need to convey that information in English but DO NOT COPY -you will not get a good mark if you do so.

*Once you have the info and know how to say it, organise your speech in three parts -a short introduction, a body and a conclusion with your own position on the topic.

*Stay on topic: even if you mention something personal or examples, try not to digress.

REHEARSE

*Practise speaking with a watch: you need your speech to be within the time limits.

*Speak clearly: this is not spontaneous speech, it is prepared speech, but it has to sound as speech, NOT AS THE READING OF A TEXT.

*Avoid using slang: this is a school task so the register must be accordingly.

*Practise and practise until you feel confident.
